(Worthy News) – The Israeli Air Force (IAF) struck the headquarters of Iran’s state-affiliated broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), during a live transmission Monday afternoon, following an unprecedented evacuation warning issued to residents of northern Tehran.

For the first time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a direct evacuation notice for an entire neighborhood in Tehran. In a message delivered by IDF Persian-language spokesman Master Sgt. (res.) Kamal Penhasi, residents of District 3 were urged to leave immediately for their safety. “In the coming hours, the Israeli army will operate in this area, as it has in recent days throughout Tehran, to strike the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure,” the warning stated.

The IDF said the IRIB facility was targeted because it served as a military communications center “under the guise of civilian activity,” aiding the Iranian Armed Forces. The military stressed that it conducted the strike with precision to minimize civilian casualties and provided advance warning through phone calls and public messages.

Footage shared on social media captured the moment an airstrike interrupted an IRIB broadcast, as debris and smoke filled the studio and a moderator fled the scene. Jason Brodsky, policy director at United Against Nuclear Iran, noted IRIB’s history of collaborating with Iran’s intelligence services to air forced confessions of political prisoners and foreign hostages.

Iranian media reported additional Israeli strikes on a building allegedly used by high-ranking regime officials in the same area. The attack followed statements by Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz, who had warned that Iran’s “propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappearing.” Katz later reaffirmed that Israel’s operations were focused on regime targets and that civilians were not intended targets.

In retaliation, Iranian media issued threats against Israeli broadcasters and mocked Israel with fake evacuation warnings aimed at cities like Bnei Brak. Meanwhile, IRIB managed to resume its programming from an alternative location, with representatives vowing that “the voice of the Islamic revolution and the great Iran will not be silenced with a military operation.”

The strikes came as part of Israel’s broader campaign to degrade Iran’s military capabilities. According to IDF sources, Israel has destroyed over 120 of Iran’s missile launchers so far. Iran, for its part, launched attacks on Israeli infrastructure overnight, damaging an oil refinery and parts of the power grid as air raid sirens blared across Israeli cities.
