U.S. on High Alert After Trump’s Strike on Iran Sparks Sleeper Cell Threat

(Worthy News) – The United States is on high alert amid growing concerns over Iranian sleeper cells potentially operating within its borders. The threat emerged following President Donald Trump’s decisive military strike against key Iranian nuclear sites. Intelligence sources confirmed that shortly after the strike, the U.S. received a chilling warning from Tehran: if attacked, the regime could activate operatives already inside America to carry out acts of terror.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem acknowledged the threat but offered few details. “I can’t necessarily share that with you,” she told reporters, “but we are continuing to evaluate every single threat and to proactively go after them.” The Department of Homeland Security has warned of a heightened threat environment, and the FBI has confirmed that its assets are fully deployed to detect and prevent any attacks.

Security analysts say Iran, weakened militarily, may now be resorting to asymmetric warfare. Barak Seener of the Henry Jackson Society in London warned, “The entire identity of Iran is as a terrorist state. The reach is global.” He noted Tehran’s past attempts at proxy attacks in the UK, Sweden, Argentina, Cyprus, and Thailand. Seener also pointed to the Biden administration’s lax border policies, saying, “Hundreds, if not thousands of Iranian nationals passed through the doors of the United States.”

Journalist Chuck Holton, who has reported extensively from Panama’s Darien Gap, said he encountered many Iranian men headed for the U.S. “Every Iranian that I met in the Darien Gap was military age male,” Holton said. “They mostly spoke English, so they were well-educated. And none of them were with their families.”

There are growing fears these individuals could be linked to Hezbollah’s Unit 910, known to operate as a sleeper cell in the United States. Last year, the Department of Justice uncovered an Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump. The arrests this week may indicate that threat remains very real.

In recent testimony before Congress, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that more than 1,000 Iranian nationals have entered the country and that law enforcement is “on high alert.” She stated, “Everyone is looking at that very closely.” Bondi tied the threat directly to border policies under the Biden administration, which she said allowed large numbers of unvetted individuals to cross into the U.S.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) warned that any cuts to FBI or DOJ budgets could hinder national security efforts. Bondi responded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to do “more with less” and urged Congress to pass the Trump-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act to bolster resources for immigration enforcement and domestic security operations.
