WASHINGTON / CHICAGO (Worthy News) – Prison Fellowship International (PFI) and Bible League International (BLI) have announced a new five-year agreement to distribute 620,000 Bibles to prisoners in 20 countries, building on a long-standing partnership dedicated to transforming lives through God’s Word.

Since 2019, the collaboration between the two ministries has provided more than 570,000 Easy-to-Read (ERV) Bibles to inmates who completed PFI’s in-prison discipleship program, The Prisoner’s Journey(r) (TPJ). Offered in over 700 prisons across the world, the program introduces prisoners to Jesus Christ through an eight-week course and equips them to continue their faith journey after graduation.

Each Bible, provided in eight languages, includes 52 studies tailored to the challenges faced by incarcerated individuals, helping them apply Scripture to their daily lives. BLI currently supplies more than 70% of the Bibles needed for TPJ graduates–a commitment that continues to grow each year.

“God’s Word has the power to reach prisoners in their darkest moments with the light of Jesus Christ,” said Frank Lofaro, PFI Vice President of Global Impact. “Through this partnership, prisoners who come to know Jesus through our in-prison programs are equipped to grow in their faith through a Bible that they can understand and that speaks to their circumstances.”

Jonathan Adams, BLI Senior Vice President of Program Development, emphasized the eternal impact of the initiative. “The Bible is not just a book; it is the living Word of God. Every prisoner who receives one has the opportunity to encounter hope, forgiveness, and transformation,” he said. “By partnering with Prison Fellowship International, we serve some of the most marginalized people in the world with the eternal truth of Scripture.”

The program’s impact is evident through stories like Harrison, a former Muslim inmate in Kenya who accepted Christ during The Prisoner’s Journey. “Now, I disciple others with the knowledge I’ve gained,” Harrison said. “I have peace of mind and a joy that only comes from knowing Christ.”
