WASHINGTON D.C. (Worthy News) – President Donald Trump said last Thursday that a massive U.S. naval force is moving toward Iran, warning the regime in Tehran that continued violence against its own people and renewed nuclear activity could trigger further American action.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One following the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump described the deployment as a deterrent designed to halt executions and repression inside Iran.

“We have a big flotilla going in that direction. We have a big force going toward Iran,” Trump said. “I’d rather not see anything happen, but we’re watching them very closely.”

Executions, Nuclear Threats, and U.S. Warnings

Trump said he personally intervened last week to stop what he described as plans to execute 837 detained protesters, warning Tehran it would face devastating consequences if the hangings went forward.

“They canceled it. They didn’t postpone it — they canceled it,” Trump said. “That was a good sign. But we have an armada… maybe we won’t have to use it.”

In separate remarks to CNBC, Trump reiterated that Iran must abandon any nuclear ambitions, suggesting that U.S. strikes similar to those carried out in mid-2025 could be repeated if necessary.

Carrier Strike Group Heads to the Middle East

Two U.S. officials confirmed that the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is expected to arrive in the Middle East within days. The deployment includes multiple destroyers equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, advanced air-defense systems, and a full carrier air wing featuring F-35C stealth fighters and electronic-warfare aircraft.

Additional U.S. air assets, including fighter squadrons and refueling aircraft, have also been positioned across the region as Washington prepares for possible escalation.

Vice President JD Vance said the buildup is precautionary.

“The President wants to make sure that if the Iranians did something very stupid, we have the resources to respond,” Vance told Newsmax.

Human Rights Alarm Bells

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said Iran’s crackdown continues despite fewer street clashes.

“The killing on the streets may have subsided, but the brutality continues,” Türk said, citing mass arrests, secret detentions, and a surge in executions.

Human rights groups estimate that thousands — and possibly tens of thousands — of Iranians were killed during the January protests, though exact figures remain unverified due to a near-total internet blackout.

Khamenei Vanishes From Public View

Adding to the sense of regime instability, opposition-linked outlet Iran International reported that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has retreated to a fortified underground bunker beneath Tehran amid fears of a U.S. strike. Iranian officials deny he is hiding but acknowledge he is conducting meetings remotely.

Analysts say the move underscores the pressure facing the Islamic Republic as domestic unrest, international outrage, and a growing U.S. military presence converge.

A Region on Edge

While Trump has stressed that he hopes force will not be necessary, the scale of the American deployment — carriers, destroyers, submarines, and air power — sends an unmistakable signal.

As U.S. forces mass in the region and Tehran’s leadership retreats underground, the standoff has entered a dangerous new phase — one shaped by internal Iranian bloodshed, nuclear red lines, and a White House signaling it is prepared to act if warnings are ignored.
