(Worthy News) – Twelve American F-22 stealth fighter jets that departed from Royal Air Force Lakenheath in the United Kingdom have been deployed to an Israeli Air Force base in southern Israel, part of a significant U.S. military buildup as President Donald Trump weighs possible action against Iran.

The advanced fifth-generation fighters were seen taking off from the UK earlier Tuesday, though one reportedly returned due to a technical issue. The jets had arrived at Lakenheath last week but were delayed for several days, reportedly because of refueling complications.

The F-22, among the most sophisticated air-superiority aircraft in the world, has never been exported due to U.S. law. Its deployment to Israel is rare and signals the seriousness of the moment.

The reinforcement comes amid a broader surge of American assets into the region. Dozens of additional aircraft — including F-35s, F-15s, and F-16s — have been tracked heading toward the Middle East in recent days by the Military Air Tracking Alliance, a group of open-source analysts monitoring government and military flight activity.

Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford continues operating in the eastern Mediterranean and is expected to coordinate with the USS Abraham Lincoln.

The deployments come as tensions with Tehran remain high and as Washington signals that while diplomacy is preferred, military options remain on the table.
