Trump Declares America Will Remain ‘One Nation Under God,’ Warns Against ‘Godless Communists’

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump told Christian conservatives Friday that America’s future depends on preserving faith, freedom, and the nation’s founding convictions, declaring that the United States will always remain “one nation under God.”

Speaking at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference at the Washington Hilton, Trump pointed to the nation’s approaching 250th anniversary as a moment for Americans to remember the biblical faith that helped shape the country’s founding.

“Our founders invoked the Creator four times in the Declaration of Independence,” Trump said, adding that faith helped drive the nation’s westward expansion, the abolition of slavery, and America’s rise as what he called “the most exceptional nation in the history of the world.”

Trump also referenced the National Anthem, noting that the fourth verse of Francis Scott Key’s poem includes the words, “In God We Trust,” which later became the nation’s official anthemn.

The president used much of his address to highlight what he described as his administration’s record in defending religious liberty. He cited the creation of the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty, the White House Faith Office, and a federal task force aimed at eradicating anti-Christian bias.

Trump said his administration had moved to reverse what he called the previous administration’s “weaponization” of government against people of faith. He also pointed to actions supporting prayer in public schools, protecting churches and synagogues from intimidation, restoring the Mexico City Policy, combating antisemitism, and restricting federal support for schools promoting gender ideology.

“I got rid of the sinister Johnson Amendment so that pastors can speak the truth,” Trump said, referring to federal tax rules that have long restricted political endorsements by tax-exempt churches.

Trump reserved some of his strongest remarks for the political left, warning that “Godless communists” pose a direct threat to religious freedom and America’s traditional way of life.

“These are not social democrats,” Trump said. “These are hardcore Godless communists.”

He warned supporters that the upcoming midterm elections would be critical, saying that if Democrats regain power, religious liberty, churches, and conservative policy priorities could face renewed threats.

“We have to win this election,” Trump said. “This election’s very vital.”

Despite the warning, Trump closed on an optimistic note, saying he believes America can become “stronger, safer, better, more prosperous and more faithful than ever before.”
