Britain Designates Iran’s IRGC Under New National Security Law

(Worthy News) – Britain announced Monday that it will designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps under sweeping new national security powers, citing IRGC-linked threats, intimidation, and activity endangering lives on British soil.
Security Minister Angela Eagle told Parliament that the designation would make it a criminal offense to support the IRGC, assist its activities connected to Britain, or receive material benefits from the organization. The measure requires parliamentary approval.
The government also designated the Iran-linked Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right, which authorities say claimed seven attacks against Jewish and Israeli-linked sites, ambulances, and Persian-language media organizations in Britain.
Russia’s GRU Volunteer Corps was also named under the National Security (State Threats) Act over alleged sabotage and covert operations targeting Britain, Europe, and NATO security.
British officials said the new law is intended to close gaps that hostile governments have exploited by hiring criminal networks and proxy groups to conduct surveillance, intimidation, and attacks while concealing direct state involvement.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the powers would make it easier to prosecute those carrying out the “dirty work” of hostile foreign governments inside Britain.
