WASHINGTON, D.C. (Worthy News) – President Donald Trump openly questioned whether Senate Majority Leader John Thune should remain in his leadership post as tensions intensified over the Senate’s failure to advance Trump’s election-integrity agenda.

Asked Wednesday whether Thune, R-S.D., was still the right person to lead Senate Republicans, Trump declined to offer an endorsement.

“We’re going to find out,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “I’ll let you know.”

The remarks came as Trump pressed Republican senators to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration and establish nationwide voter-identification standards. Trump has also demanded that the Senate remain in Washington rather than leave for its August recess until the legislation is approved.

Thune has argued that Republicans do not currently have the 60 votes needed to overcome a Democratic filibuster. The GOP holds a 53–47 Senate majority, leaving Republicans short of the votes required under existing Senate rules.

The dispute also involves a broader Republican budget package known as “Reconciliation 3.0.” Trump believes the Senate has enough support to advance the measure, while Thune has reportedly maintained that several Republican senators remain opposed.

Trump’s comments represent his strongest public warning yet to Thune, placing the majority leader’s political standing increasingly at risk as the White House demands faster action on election security and other key elements of the president’s agenda.
