(Worthy News) – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests rose sharply in July, reaching 49,571 — the highest monthly total reported so far in President Donald Trump’s second term, according to government data obtained by the Deportation Data Project at the University of California, Berkeley, and analyzed by The Associated Press.
The July figure marked a 15% increase from 43,021 arrests in June and a 70% increase from 29,241 arrests in February, reflecting the administration’s intensified immigration enforcement campaign. The numbers also followed a broader enforcement surge that began earlier this year as the White House moved to restore aggressive interior immigration operations.
The increase comes as the Trump administration continues to argue that immigration enforcement is central to national security, public safety, and the rule of law. Critics, however, have raised concerns over the speed and scope of the arrests, including cases involving individuals without criminal convictions.
ICE has not routinely released detailed monthly arrest data to the public, making outside analysis of federal figures a key window into enforcement pace. However, the July numbers show a clear acceleration in arrests as the administration presses forward with one of its signature policy priorities.
