MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Worthy News)– Over the past few days, the message was loud and clear as newspapers, TV and Radio programs in Central America repeated the same message — “The U.S. will not give asylum to migrant children.”

The message she carried was clear:  “The U.S. will not give asylum to migrant children,” blared Thursday’s front page of La Prensa Grafica, one of the largest papers in El Salvador.

In recent days, the Obama administration has recognized it as an “urgent humanitarian issue,” while Republican opponents blame the president for attracting the crowds in the first place by loosening border-crossing restrictions.

The president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez, recently said that the tidal wave of illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S. from Central America can be attributed to the fact that many believe they will get amnesty. The Obama Administration’s rhetoric and actions surrounding the immigration surge have led many in Central America to think they will not be deported if they come into the U.S. illegally–and indeed, most of the thousands of children that continue to cross the border will likely get to stay in the country.
