Ugandan Shamans Injure Christians, Damage Church

LAKE VICTORIA (Worthy News)– Shamans armed with clubs and stones stormed a Ugandan church on an island in Lake Victoria on Dec. 22, injuring about 30 Christians, according to Morning Star News.

Local shamans were joined by sorcerers from other parts of Uganda as the animists attacked the Kisaba Prayer Palace Christian Church on Bukasa Island; the witchdoctors damaged dozens of Bibles, chairs and other property as the congregation fled for their lives.

After the attack, hundreds of shamans blocked access to the church, which they claimed was obstructing the spirit that controlled Lake Victoria.

Bishop Godfrey Muyanja, the head of the Pentecostal Church in Kalangala, condemned the attack.

“The action of the rowdy group of witchdoctors attacking, raiding and demolishing the house of God is evil and uncalled for,” he said. “Most of the church faithful sustained injuries in the attack and are receiving treatment in different clinics, while others have fled the landing site for fear of another attack.”

In April, shamans attacked Christians of the Divine Harvesters Church for burning the magical fetish items belonging to a former witchdoctor who had converted to Christianity.
