Israeli President Rivlin Grants Netanyahu 2 Week Extension to Form Coalition

(Worthy News)– President Reuven Rivlin formally granted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu two more weeks to form a governing coalition Monday morning in a ceremony at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Netanyahu told Rivlin that coalition talks had advanced, but he would need more time to complete negotiations.

Rivlin said that a transitional government was not in the public’s interest, but because Netanyahu had made progress and the party heads that recommended he form the government had not changed their minds, he would grant the extension.

Netanyahu will have until May 6 to build a coalition after not succeeding at finalizing a deal with any party through the first four weeks of negotiations. –[wp_colorbox_media url=”http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Politics-And-Diplomacy/Rivlin-grants-Netanyahu-2-week-extension-to-form-coalition-398640″ type=”iframe” hyperlink=”Source”]
