(Worthy News) - Members of the U.S. intelligence community are warning that Islamic State fighters could be working toward mass-casualty attacks, a serious departure from the terror group's current focus on lone-wolf attacks.

Intelligence officials have typically categorized the Islamic State group's main tactic as one that is less ambitious, involving one or a small group of attackers armed with simple weapons.

In contrast, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, also called AQAP, is seen as more capable and more focused on carrying out large-scale, mass-casualty attacks, including plots on commercial aviation. [ Source ]

  1. I think the west is incapable of doing anything not because they lack Intel or fire power but because they fear an internal Islamic backlash.
Funnily majority of us Muslims don't think our future and those of our children would be better in an extreme Islamic state as the IS has become.
As father I don't see how the rape prostitution or other form of trafficking of my mother wife sister daughter or niece would please the god almighty.
Even the most faithful of us can't explain these wanton massacres and total disregard to our women children and elders.
I believe that the west lacks cohesiveness that will eventually be their undoing. In today's world a fresh posturing by the west v/s Russia is exactly how Nero fiddled through the fall of Rome. Natural allies and un natural foes..
I think our biggest problem is political posturing that arises from appealing to domestic compulsions.
Though I don't believe that it would happen by 2020 unless their friendly neighborhood Pakistan let's them access 130 nuclear bombs and stockpile of another 68.
But then America so depends on war for its economy that I don't think a few 100 million to a couple of billion casualties would matter as long as their economy has enough juice.
I guess that come from year of financial mismanagement.
Finally radical Islam is like any right wing ideology It feeds on fear of the unknown so I think culturally as well as ethnically we need to understand that it's a war of attrition as much as it is a war of ideology and those don't get sorted out on the battlefield. See terrorism is here to stay because there are millions of people living on less then 2 dollars a day when billions of dollars of food and resources are wasted. It's the gulf between the haves and the have-nots, rich- poor, right - (centrist- leftist)...
And for god sakes there is no good or bad terrorist. Anyone who orchestrates acts of mass killings and then claiming it is for state religious or ethnic benefit is global enemy no 1 and has to be dealt with immediately.
I think one should apply sharia to those who want the world to adopt it. So have laws within the framework of our common laws that treat terrorist and mass murderers prescribing to a fundamental doctrine of religious intolerance exactly how they treat anybody else if the shoe was on the other boot.
