(Worthy News) – Pakistani police are deliberately downplaying any chance of arson after a suspicious fire damaged a Christian cable TV station in Karachi last week.

According to Morning Star News, police officials claimed the fire was the result of a short circuit. But police are at a loss to explain the broken locks at the Gawahi Television office after local residents had seen masked men fleeing the scene at the time of the fire.

Station staff had received threats warning them to stop preaching about Christianity.

Gawahi TV was established in 2013 by both Catholic and Protestant churches to spread the gospel. The channel broadcasts 24/7 and has an international viewership of more than 12 million.
