Arafat May Attend Intifada Bash in Tehran
ICEJ NEWS – 04/23/2001
Iran is planning to host a two-day international conference this week called to build support for the Palestinian intifada, and PLO chief Yasser Arafat could be the guest of honor.

The anti-Israel gathering is set to be held in Tehran on April 24-25, and will be attended by officials from 35 Muslim states and at least 50 non-governmental organizations. The conference is due to open with an inaugural address by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Iran is already providing support for the Palestinian war against Israel through Hizb’Allah, the Shi’ite terrorist group in Lebanon that is increasingly working in concert with the Sunni factions Hamas and Islamic Jihad inside Palestinian areas.

Press reports in Israel indicate that Arafat may show up at the conference to personally appeal for money and weapons, and that a visit to Damascus may soon follow. Arafat has been trying to arrange a meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar Assad to end decades of bitter relations between Arafat and the Assad dynasty.
