International Concert of Prayer For Turkey

April 16, 2001

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (ANS) — The US office of Turkish World Outreach has received an invitation from the International Turkey Network for churches to participate in an “International Concert of Prayer for Turkey.”

A spokesman said: “Just as the earthquake shook the nation of Turkey, there are events happening in economic and political arenas that are shaking the country in perhaps even larger proportions. In addition, there are ongoing and upcoming court cases involving Turkish believers, churches and workers, which need to be upheld in prayer. The summer will also be filled with short-term teams traveling throughout Turkey.

“We are asking churches and individuals around the world to set aside sometime during the weekend of June 1 – 3, 2001 for a time of prayer focused on the nation of Turkey.

“We will be posting some suggested items for intercession and general formats that you might want to use. We will suggest a two-hour concert of prayer, but will also offer ideas for formatting a one-hour meeting and a 15-minute section of a worship service.”

The ITN outreach is asking churches and individuals who intend to schedule a time of prayer to let them know approximately how many will be participating. “We want the believers and workers in Turkey to be encouraged by knowing how many will be praying on their behalf.”
