'You Cannot Take Jesus Away From Us': Iranian Christians Testify About Being Imprisoned for Christ

(Worthy News) - Two Iranian Christians are pleading with the world to hear the cries of the Iranian people as they recounted their own ordeal of being imprisoned for their faith.

In remarks before hundreds gathered at a Wednesday afternoon plenary session at the State Department for the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh explained how Jesus Christ sustained them and miraculously intervened when they were jailed. The women were born into Muslim families who became Christians as young adults; the two friends met in Turkey while studying theology in 2005.

The two women were arrested in 2009 by the Iranian regime because of their Christian faith and spent 259 days in one of the nations most notorious prisons. They were subjected to daily interrogations and mental torture, were said to have committed various offenses — apostasy, blasphemy, promoting Christianity in Iran — and were sentenced to execution by hanging. During their ordeal, Iranian officials also routinely threatened their lives and the lives of their families in order to pressure them to recant their faith, but they refused. 1. Hallelujah Jesus Christ, said , we will blessed are the ones that are persecuted for the sake of Jesus Christ for the kingdom of God is theirs.Let Jesus Christ visit them in the jail.Ameen!!

  2. God glorify yourself in these powerful christians, they cling to you, they cannot deny you , answer their cries with fire like the day of Elijah, and the whole world will know no other god like You, Amen

  3. Not sure what they are pleading for us to hear. Are we not hearing of their ordeal? What do they expect the rest of the world to do? It is we in the USA whose voices are rarely heard. No one hears and no one acts on our behalf, they deny it's happening in the USA. Everyone pretends the US doesn't imprison, persecute or force conversions.

But our Iranian sisters plead for us to hear them? We do. I do. Is there more we can do but pray?

  4. “ Is there more we can do but pray?”
I remember the media showing Catholics leaving their church building after a service concerning the Iran hostage taking in ‘79. They said the same thing about prayer. Why is prayer the “last thing” to depend on?
