(Worthy News) - The State Department says the U.S. has proposed the sale of a $3.5 billion Patriot missile system to Turkey.

Congress has been notified of the proposed sale, which is aimed at improving Turkey’s air and missile defense capabilities.

The State Department says the deal “will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of a key NATO Ally on the front lines of the fight against terrorism.”

It comes amid U.S. concerns that Turkey, a NATO ally, is buying surface-to-air missile systems from Russia. The U.S. has complained that the Russian system is not compatible with weapons used by other NATO countries. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More...) ]

  1. Why in the world the U.S. would EVER sell this advanced system to a loose cannon like Erdogan is beyond me. I'm hoping this is just positioning and the the Pentagon is not really serious about this idea.

  2. Wait a second. Since when did the USA become friendly with Turkey once again? This is a huge buying out, like a ransom. Or extortion.

I assume the USA gets a base in Turkey for such a huge "gift"? Why else would be give to an enemy of Israel such a massive protection?

  3. Well of course we could apply the 3.5 billion dollars to the three trillion dollar debt that Congress has with our social security trust fund I doubt seriously that will see one penny for it and the taxpayers will eat it as usual also I don't think giving weapons to enemies of Israel who is our Ally a good idea at all
