(Worthy News) – The White House announced Wednesday that a new executive order targeting anti-Semitism on college campuses will be signed by President Trump, broadening the federal definition of Judaism to encompass ethnicity as well as religion.
The administration plans to use the redefinition to allow the President to employ Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in the fight against anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiment at federally funded universities, which can be deprived of funds if campus activities discriminate “on the ground of race, color, or national origin.”
Officials said the new law will also contain language from the International Holocaust Remebrance Alliance, whose definition of anti-Semitism includes “denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination” and “claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.”
Proponents of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign against Israel that is popular on college campuses were predictably incensed about the move.
