(Worthy News) – Indonesia has seen 40 anti-Christian attacks in the first 5 months of 2019, a two-thirds jump from last year, and a quadrupling of the rate from 10 years ago.

In 2009, only 10 anti-Christian attacks were recorded by the Jakarta Christian Communication Forum in the country that hosts the world’s largest Muslim population.

Churches have suffered as well in the attacks, with 22 closed so far this year under a new building permit law Christians in Aceh province say is being exploited by a new Islamic extremist governor.

The 2006 Revised Joint Ministerial Decree on the Construction of Houses of Worship says that churches must obtain the signatures of 90 members and 60 unrelated locals before they can put up a building.
