Iran militia in Iraq vows to legislate U.S. out of the country

(Worthy News) – The Iranian militia group Kataeb Hezbollah vowed to seek the expulsion of U.S. troops from Iraqi territory Thursday through legal channels after protests manufactured by Iran wreaked havoc on the U.S. embassy earlier in the week.

U.S. strikes Sunday killed 25 fighters from the Iran proxy in Iraq and Syria, Iran responding Tuesday by sending hundreds of protestors against the Baghdad compound it claimed were a reflection of popular discontent.

Kataeb Hezbollah said Thursday that “serious work” was underway “to legislate a law to expel foreign, criminal invading troops from dear Iraq,” which is expected to hit the floor of Iraqi parliament sometime next week.

U.S. President Trump ordered 750 new troops to the embassy after photos emerged showing a virtually decimated building.

Protestors from the main movement in Tahrir square, in which hundreds have been killed by Iraqi security forces since October, made sure Tuesday to distance themselves from the U.S. embassy attack, saying it had “nothing to do” with their anti-establishment, and largely anti-Iranian, concerns.
