(Worthy News) – U.S. troops reportedly blocked a Russian military convoy from reaching strategic oil fields in northeastern Syria on Sunday – the fourth confrontation between the two sides in Syria in less than two weeks.
The U.S. and Russia both maintain a military presence in Syria and have an interest in securing the oil fields.
A Russian military convoy was headed for oil fields in Al-Hasakah province on Sunday when it was stopped by ten U.S. armored vehicles, the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported. The Russians reportedly first tried to pass and summoned a helicopter from a nearby base for support, but withdrew after the Americans responded by sending two helicopters to the area.
