(Worthy News) – Testimonies of changed lives are leaking out of a revival that has broken out in eastern Tennessee as the result of a 30-day prayer and fasting initiative begun by one pastor in Rogersville.

Pastor John Butler of the East Rogersville Baptist Church began “Awaken Tennessee,” which will run from Jan. 26 until Feb. 23 and has 1,000 participating churches, out of a desire the see repentance and renewal spread across the nation.

“Early Monday morning, around 3 AM, God woke me up in a still small voice. He told me the stuff I was reading on my phone was a sin against him, but also my family. The demon in me was ruining my work, my family and me,” one man who attended the revival told CBN News.

“I sat in the pew after the service fighting the devil to just let go of the pew. Four people sat with me and ask me if I was ok,” he explained. “God said now!!! I laid it on the altar. Best week in a long time. I have fought this demon for a while. I tried by myself but the battle was not mine. The weight I was carrying was just too heavy.”

The revival is expected to have touched 100,000 people by the time services conclude at the end of the week.
