(Worthy News) – Israeli Likud and Blue and White parties are nearing an agreement to form an emergency unity government after Netanyahu rival Benny Gantz relinquished his former refusal to work with the beleaguered Prime Minister.

“A lot of tension” reportedly developed between Blue and White Leader Gantz and number two party official Yair Lapid, who has forsworn ever being part of a Netanyahu-led government, when Gantz claimed coronavirus merited a major concession, according to Israel’s Channel 13 News.

“At the moment all options need to be on the table. It wouldn’t be responsible on my part not to consider any alternative,” Gantz told Israel’s Channel 12 news.

Tens of thousands of people remain under quarantine in Israel under Netanyahu’s restrictions, which critics are using as a platform to accuse him of dictatorship.

Under the current proposed framework, Netanyahu and Gantz would share a premiership over the course of three years, the current Prime Minister beginning the term and handing over power to the Blue and White Leader halfway through the appointment.
