Poll finds almost half of Americans see coronavirus crisis as wake-call to return to God

(Worthy News) – According to a recent survey, 43.4% of American adults believe the coronavirus crisis is a wake-up call for the US to return to God. Nearly three-in-ten respondents (29.4%) said they think the outbreak and subsequent financial devastation are signs of the Biblical “Last Days.” The poll was conducted for the Joshua Fund (JF), a major US Christian charity.

Speaking to the Washington Examiner, JF founder Joel Rosenberg said: “Americans in near full lockdown are anxious, and understandably so. Yet millions are turning to God, the Bible and Christian sermons for answers, some of them for the first time. That may be the most important silver lining in this crisis so far.”

The JF survey also reported that one-in-five non-Christians had said the crisis was causing them to read the Bible, listen to Biblical teaching, and learn more about God’s plan for the future of mankind.

Moreover, the JF website stated, “40.1% of respondents who identified as Christians said they are “reading the Bible more than ever, watching or listening to Bible teaching and … searching online to understand Bible prophecy and God’s plan for the future of mankind.”

As of Monday, the US had 337,309 coronavirus cases, 9,643 deaths and 17,528 patients who have recovered from the infection.
