Texas Governor says Jesus Christ will always be there for you

(Worthy News) – In a video interview on Saturday evening, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott encouraged Texans to put their faith in God, CBN News reports. Interviewed by Pastor Jack Graham during an online service at Prestonwood Baptist Church, the governor said: “We are all tested, we are all challenged. There is a solution that will support you and will always be there for you and that’s Jesus Christ, it’s God Almighty.”

Discussing the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, Abbot said the spread of the virus was being slowed by people staying home and that this was placing Texas in a position to open again in a safe way. He added: “God’s hand is working through the scientists across this great nation by coming up with fast innovative drugs that will lead to therapeutic remedies that people will be able to take and eventually immunizations that will get us beyond this episode in our lives.”

The governor also spoke about his personal faith, sharing how his relationship with Jesus Christ was strengthened after he broke his back in an accident and was confined to a wheelchair at age 26.”When you face something like that,” he said, “it tests your faith…wondering why God would allow something like this to happen.”

Importantly, after the accident, Abbot said, he continued to reach out to God. “God reached right back out to me. My relationship with God and Jesus Christ grew even closer after the accident and it empowered me to go on and become the governor of the great state of Texas.”

Encouraging those who are struggling, Abbot said: “If you lean on Jesus and God, you’ll be taken care of, you’ll be able to weather this storm. God never promises us a life free of storms. What God promised was a pathway through those storms.”
