(Worthy News) – Recent opinion polls unanimously demonstrate that around 90% of Palestinians reject President Trump’s peace plan, the Washington Institute reports. However, separate polls show different results on Palestinian support for a third intifada as a means by which to resist the plan.

World Israel News reports that, according to a February survey of 1,270 adults carried out by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, 64 percent of Palestinians in Judea, Samaria (West Bank) and the Gaza Strip support a new intifada to block the Trump peace plan. Support for a new wave of violent uprising against Israel was found to be very high in the Gaza Strip (81.2%) and just over the half-way mark in Judea and Samaria (52.8%).

However, the Washington Institute reports, a poll conducted by the Palestine Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) found that a majority of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza do not support a return to violence as a means by which to resist the plan.

The PCPO poll was carried out between January 23-February 11, 2020 on 500 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and 500 in Judea and Samaria, the West Bank. According to the survey, 56 percent of those in Gaza and 69 percent of those in the West Bank want Hamas to maintain the ceasefire with Israel.

When asked by the PCPO why they would not support an intifada, 55% of West Bank respondents said one area of concern was how the Palestinian Authority (PA) might react to violent protest. According to the Washington Institute, this outcome was echoed by a poll released by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, in which 73 percent thought the PA would not allow a new intifada.
