(Worthy News) – Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday that his nation had registered the world’s first coronavirus vaccine despite international skepticism.

Putin said one of his two adult daughters was among those inoculated with the vaccine against the new virus, also known as COVID-19. “I know this very well because one of my daughters got vaccinated, so in this sense, she took part in testing.”

Putin explained that his daughter developed a fever after the first vaccine shot. The Russian leader claimed it dissipated, and her temperature returned to normal after a second shot. “And then, after the second shot, she had a slight fever again, and then everything was fine, she is feeling well and has a high [antibody] count,” Putin added.

Russian officials revealed that they plan to start mass vaccination in October. However, experts raised doubts about the speed of Russia’s work, because the shots were only studied in dozens of people.

By comparison, vaccines entering final-stage testing in the United States require studies of 30,000 people each.

Putin seemed to dismiss these concerns.

“I know it has proven efficient and forms a stable immunity,” he stressed. “We must be grateful to those who made that first step very important for our country and the entire world.”
