(Worthy News) – Gregory Boyd, senior Pastor of New Birth Harvest Outreach Ministries Churches of Deliverance in Florida, was shot and killed at a shopping area in Northwest Miami-Dade on Thursday last week, CBN News reports. Pastor Boyd is believed to have been caught in crossfire after a gunfight broke out between two groups of men at The Village Flea Market and Mall.

According to Miami-Dade police, 54-year-old Pastor Boyd was walking past a shoe shop, close to where a woman and a group of men were arguing. A second group of men approached them and the argument intensified. Gunshots then broke out. Boyd is believed to have been gunned down in crossfire and he died shortly after being taken to the Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center.

Grieving the loss of their Pastor, his church posted on Facebook Saturday: “Keep [Pastor Boyd’s] wife, family, friends, and congregation in prayer. His absence is truly felt in Miami-Dade County and possibly even further. We don’t have many words currently as we’re in shock still. But now it’s praying time and showing love to one another. Love is what it does!!!”

No arrests had been made as of Wednesday. Police have issued a bulletin, asking for help in tracking the perpetrators: Pastor Boyd was shot at around 6:05 pm on Thursday, September 10 at 7900 NW 27 Avenue in Miami.

Pastor Boyd co-founded New Birth Harvest Outreach Ministries Churches of Deliverance with his wife Deborah and led the church for 20 years. The church mission statement is: “To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and help widows, children, and those in need. Also to rehabilitate ex-convicts (men and women) to teach and show them the way through natural example and the raw Word of God.”
