Israeli PM Netanyahu and UAE Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

benjamin netanyahu worthy christian news(Worthy News) – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed have been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, the Jerusalem Post reports. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lord David Trimble of Northern Ireland has nominated the two leaders for their pioneering agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the UAE.

Mr. Netanyahu has been nominated twice already for next year’s peace prize, because of the US-brokered normalization agreements, he signed first with the UAE and shortly afterward with Bahrain, the Jerusalem Post reports. Paolo Grimoldi and Finish parliamentarian Vilhelm Junilla nominated the Israeli PM in September.

That Lord Trimble should nominate the Israeli and UAE leaders is noteworthy as Trimble himself received the prize in 1998 for his part in bringing an end to the deadly, agonizing, and seemingly intractable 30-year conflict in Northern Ireland.

In a statement, Mr. Netanyahu’s office said: “Pursuant to the rules of the Nobel Prize Committee, since Lord Trimble is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, his decision to submit Prime Minister Netanyahu’s candidacy will lead the committee to discuss the issue.”

The final decision about the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize will be taken in secret by a five-member committee appointed by the Norwegian parliament. The winner or winners will be announced in October next year.
