(Worthy News) – A formerly-secret National Security Council strategy document publicly confirms that the CIA and other US agencies have increased their intelligence and spying activity against China in an effort to counter Beijing’s global network of spying operations, the Washington Times (WT) reports.

Approved by President Trump in February 2018, “The U.S. Strategic Framework for the Indo-Pacific,” calls for the United States to “Expand and prioritize U.S. intelligence and law enforcement activities that counter Chinese influence operations.”

The 10-page White House strategy document reveals a plan to “inoculate the United States, its allies and partners against Chinese intelligence activities,” WT reports. The US should also help its allies “in operating against China and countering China’s clandestine activities in their countries,” the document says.

Moreover, the strategy calls for intelligence agencies to “strengthen defensive and offensive counterintelligence functions across the public and private sectors to neutralize China’s growing intelligence advantages; expand intelligence diplomacy and law enforcement cooperation with other governments to bolster understanding of Chinese intentions and capabilities.”

In regard to military activity, the document says the US will deter China from using military force and “develop capabilities and concepts to defeat Chinese actions across the spectrum of conflict.” The strategy also calls for a US defense policy that would prevent China from achieving air and sea dominance inside the ‘first island’ chain of islands extending from Japan through the South China Sea, WT said.

In particular, the plan also envisions defending first-island chain nations such as Taiwan and “dominating” all areas of conflict outside the first island chain.
