(Worthy News) – Joe Biden will sign a series of executive actions undoing U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s key policies within hours after taking the oath of office on Wednesday, his top aid says.

Following his inauguration as the 46th president of the United States, Biden plans to ink roughly a dozen” orders Wednesday, incoming chief of staff Ron Klain confirmed in a memo.

After the ceremony at the heavily fortified U.S. Capitol, Biden will rejoin the Paris Climate Accord and mandate mask-wearing on federal property, Klain stressed.

Other actions include ending Trump’s travel ban on several majority Muslim countries, extending a pause on federal student loan payments, and halting evictions and foreclosures.

Additionally, immigrants who arrived illegally would face an eight-year path to U.S. citizenship. People in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program or from war-ravaged nations would be put on a faster track.

Later in the week, Biden was also due to sign orders aimed at reopening schools and businesses, expanding COVID-19 testing, and reuniting illegal immigrant children separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border.

Biden and his team also reportedly plan to rescind a cross-border permit for the Keystone XL oil pipeline on his first day in office, ending a project resurrected by Trump.

The 78-year-old Biden campaigned on promises to undo President Trump’s legacy even before the novel coronavirus pandemic impacted the nation.

“These executive actions will deliver relief to the millions of Americans that are struggling in the face of these crises,” Klain claimed in the memo to staff but obtained by reporters.

“President-elect Biden will take action — not just to reverse the gravest damages of the Trump administration — but also to start moving our country forward.”

The memo comes after the incoming president unveiled a massive, $1.9 trillion coronavirus bailout package increasing unemployment benefits and small business loans. He also offered a new round of $1,400 stimulus checks.

The Biden administration will need support from skeptical Republican lawmakers who fear a ballooning national debt caused by the incoming commander-in-chief’s spending spree.
