(Worthy News) – Israeli authorities have begun rolling out a new document showing proof of COVID-19 vaccination or recovery, the Times of Israel reports. However, the Health Ministry has stated it is acting to ensure that current certification remains valid so that people can travel in the interim without having to undergo expensive testing.

Israel has just scrapped the Green Pass proof-of-vaccination document that had been required for access to public venues and events inside the country, TOI reports. The new document will only be required for international travel.

The new documentation was announced a day after Israel lifted the mandate of wearing masks indoors; the daily number of coronavirus cases in the country has fallen from thousands to single or low double digits, TOI said. According to the Israeli health ministry, more than five million people in Israel have now been fully vaccinated.

The new document will be valid until the end of this year, although it is not yet clear which other countries will recognize it, TOI reports.

In any event, the Health Ministry continues to advise against non-essential travel abroad, TOI said. The ministry has even issued a “severe warning” against traveling to certain countries, including the UAE, Uganda, Uruguay, Seychelles, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Maldives, Namibia, Nepal, Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Tunisia.
