(Worthy News) – Fulani jihadist terrorists murdered 37 Christians on Tuesday night during a raid on a village in Nigeria’s Plateau state, Reuters reports. With little opposition from the government, Fulani jihadists have murdered thousands of Christians in Nigeria, triggering international rights groups to warn of a genocide.

Tuesday night’s killers went house to house shooting residents in Yelwa Zangam near the state capital city of Jos, a military spokesman told Reuters. The source added it was difficult for troops to get to the site of the attack as a bridge had been destroyed.

Fulani jihadists are now the fourth most dangerous terror group in the world, and they pose the most serious threat to Christians in Nigeria. While the government has downplayed the ongoing violence as mere fighting over land, locals report the issue at hand is a Fulani extremist desire to remove non-Muslims and impose Islam across their territory.

In a statement to Reuters, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong described this most recent in a long line of attacks as a “barbaric act”, and said ten suspects had been arrested so far.

Issuing a separate statement on the attack, International Christian Concern said: “No matter where on this scale the attacks fall, they are atrocious, wrong, and the government in Nigeria must do more to end this continuing issue. Please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Nigeria who suffer daily for their faith.”
