(Worthy News) – Islamic terrorists murdered a Christian pastor in eastern Uganda last month, after he refused to close his church located near a mosque, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

Pastor Stephen Lugwire of Bunangwe estate in the predominantly Muslim area of Nangonde was killed on October 26 while tending to his grazing field with his daughter.

Pastor Lugwire had enraged local Islamists by winning Muslims to Christ through his church in the Namutumba District, MSN reports. On October 26, the pastor and his 23-year-old daughter, Brenda, were out on their field when three Islamist men appeared carrying machetes. The men drew closer and began to yell “kafir” (infidel) at the pastor.
In a statement to MSN, Brenda said the men threatened her father saying: “We have told you to remove the church which is near our mosque, but you have not heeded our message.”

“Today you will face the wrath from Allah,” Brenda recalled the terrorists saying to her father. Then, Brenda continued: “One of the assailants hit my dad with a big stick on the head, and he fell down.” Brenda escaped, but not before seeing her father attacked with a machete. His body was found to have deep knife wounds in his neck and chest. The incident has been reported to police.

While Christianity is legal in Uganda, and Muslims are a minority group, rights organizations have been recording an increasing number of violent attacks on Christians by Islamists wanting to impose Sharia law on the country.
