(Worthy News) – Around 12,000 farmers and agribusiness stewards are expected to gather in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday for an event known as Global Agricultural Day of Prayer, CBN reports. Organized by the Praying Farmers group, the event is expected to be followed online by as many as one million people around the globe.

In a website invitation encouraging participation in Friday’s prayer day, Praying Farmers said the purposes of the event include honoring God, praying for the harvest, and raising money for a Disaster Relief fund. “Our country has been through turmoil and difficult times where challenges seem overwhelming and hope is elusive,” the invitation explains. “With every adversity and problem in our lives we have two options; Complain and lose heart, OR Trust God and Pray Together! We believe God hears and answers our prayers.”

In addition to praying, participants at the event will hear from guest speakers such as Angus Buchan, a farmer/evangelist from South Africa whose story was told in the Christian movie “Faith Like Potatoes.”

Other speakers include Don and Jodie Lamb of Lamb Farms in Lebanon, Indiana, CBN said. “Agriculture and the gospel have always had a really great link,” Don Lamb told CBN. “There’s so much crossover between the harvest and taking care of the fields with the gospel message. It’s very natural for farmers to be connected to God and through that, connected to prayer.”

Jodi Lamb added that she will be specifically praying for marriages in farming communities. “Farmers are unique. Don will always say we are a small percentage of what goes on in the world,” she told CBN News. “As a farmer’s wife, a lot of times we feel somewhat alone. I’m excited and looking forward to the opportunity to come together as spouses, as wives of farmers to pray together for what God intends for us to be doing as we support and love one another. We need to come before Him for that strength for sure.”
