(Worthy News) – A North Korean Christian radio program supported by International Christian Concern (ICC) is working to reach more North Koreans with the Gospel by integrating news and other secular content into its Bible-based programming, ICC reports.

Sponsored by ICC, Free North Korea Radio (FNKR) has been broadcasting since 2006. However, until recently it broadcast news and information separately from programs that shared the Gospel, ICC said.

According to ICC, the station received feedback that North Koreans have a difficult time engaging with programs on the Gospel message alone because the state brainwashes them into believing God does not exist.

Receiving the feedback, FNKR made important changes. “From January to March of this year, FNKR has focused on telling the listeners in North Korea that the lives of North Koreans are not separated from the love of God and that God’s grace is integrated into their lives and everything they do,” ICC explained.

“Through programs such as The People Who Met God (a conversation with North Korean defectors), Discovering Religions in North Korea (with North Korean defector pastors), and NK Army 24/7 (with former NK military personnel who are Christians), FNKR has shared the living God with the listeners in North Korea,” ICC said.

“Please join ICC in praying for FNKR as it continues to spread the Gospel in North Korea and bring the hope of Jesus to those who live there,” ICC added.

North Korea ranks 2nd on the US Open Doors Watch List 2022 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted: the country had long ranked number first on the list but was knocked off the top spot by Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover last year.
