(Worthy News) – A new study by the Arizona Christian University’s Cultural Research Center has found that a mere 2% of US millennial parents of pre-teens believe that salvation and eternal life can only be attained through trusting in Jesus Christ and his atoning work of forgiveness and redemption on the cross, CBN News reports.

Continuing a 25-year downward trend in the numbers of parents of young children holding to a biblical worldview, the results of the latest study show that the Gospel message and the need for faith in Jesus Christ are not being widely transmitted to the next generation, CBN reports.

“Most of the parents of young children in America, if they were to die today – probably would not wind up in heaven,” George Barna, director of the Arizona research center, told CBN.

“One of the most important things we learned about parents with pre-teens, is that they don’t believe the Bible is reliable or true, or relevant to their lives,” Barna continued. “They don’t have the same view of God as given to us in the Bible. Five out of 6 of them are not born-again Christians, meaning they believe when they die and go to heaven – but only because they confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.”

According to the study, the reason for the poor figures include divorce and the secularization of American culture, laws, and public schools, CBN said.
