Florida Takes Another Step Towards Banning Gender-Affirming Medical Treatments for Minors
(Worthy News) – A Florida Board of Medicine panel voted Friday to ban “gender-affirming” treatment, such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgeries, for children and adolescents.
While the panel voted to prohibit medical professionals from providing life-altering and potentially irreversible gender transition medical procedures to minors, the final vote is set for Nov. 4, according to Click Orlando.
During the meeting, board members heard presentations, questioned medical experts and listened to public comment from people with opposite stances on the issue. Public comments ranged from claims that adolescents are too young to make such life-changing decisions, to contentions that denying gender transition procedures inflicts psychological harm to minors suffering gender dysphoria.
