(Worthy News) – A total of 37 countries have now signed a 2020 consensus document asserting that there is no international right to abortion, the Christian Post (CP) reports.

The Geneva Consensus Declaration on Promoting Women’s Health and Strengthening the Family was written at the 2020 World Health Assembly, which, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, was held virtually rather than in its usual location of Geneva, Switzerland.

On Thursday, a gathering of pro-life activists and government representatives attended an event on Capitol Hill to celebrate the second anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Consensus Declaration on Promoting Women’s Health and Strengthening the Family, which declares that “there is no international right to abortion,” CP reports.

Thursday’s event was hosted by the Institute for Women’s Health, a non-profit organization that works to “advocate for the optimal health and thriving of women throughout every phase of life.”

With Kazakhstan the latest country to express support for the statement, the other signatories to the Geneva Consensus Declaration include Bahrain, Belarus, Benin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, DRC, Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eswatini, Gambia, Georgia, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Indonesia, Iraq, Kenya, Kuwait, Libya, Nauru, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Poland, Qatar, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, UAE, Zambia, CP reports.

The US had signed the document in October 2020, but withdrew its support once Democratic President Joe Biden took office, CP said.
