(Worthy News) – The Iran-backed Lebanese terror group Hezbollah on Sunday conducted a wide-ranging military exercise in Lebanon it claimed was a simulated “resistance maneuver” against an “invasion” by neighboring Israel, i24News reports.

The radicalized Shiite Islamic group is understood to conduct such drills as part of psychological warfare against Israel, its sworn enemy.

With foreign media invited to attend, the drill involved hundreds of Hezbollah militants and a new arsenal of tanks, cannons and rocket launchers it obtained through the civil war in Syria, i24News reports. Moreover, the group set up the area from which it could launch anti-tank missiles, snipers, and bombs or infiltrate Israel.

“On Sunday, Hezbollah will hold a major exercise in Lebanon. Tanks, missile units and infantry will participate. The exercise will be covered by many media outlets around the world,” the designated terror group said in a statement.
The drills follow a recent escalation in the ongoing violence of the Arab-Israeli conflict with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group in Gaza firing hundreds of rockets at Israeli towns, and the Israel Defense Forces striking targets in the Strip.

Earlier this month, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said in a statement: “Despite all the assassinations of their leaders [by Israel], the resistance movements have not weakened and neither have their capabilities.”
