(Worthy News) – As part of an ongoing campaign of terror, murder, displacement and destruction of livelihood against Nigerian Christians in Plateau State, Fulani jihadists sent written warnings to specific local Christian communities at the weekend, advising them of impending attacks in specific locations, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports. Notably, the jihadists pointed out that no Nigerian security forces would come to the aid of the Christians if they valued their own lives.

According to ICC sources, Christians in Plateau’s Hukke Village recently received a written Fulani threat of attack on villages surrounding Bassa County. The letter specified that villages, including Te’egbe, Ancha, Hukke, and Zogu, would be targeted. Locals in the Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas (LGAs) were also informed their communities would be attacked.

“We received credible information that Fulani militias and bandits brought from Zamfara, and other states have vowed to bring down the villages including (Barkin Ladi LGA) Gassa in Ropp District; Chit and Tapo in Heipang District; and … Rawuru, Saga, Nafan in Fan District. In the Riyom LGA, the villages of Kwi, Wereng-Camp, Wereng, Kum and Byei, Jol, Tashek, Tanjol, Rim, and Ganawuri,” a local source told ICC.

The source added that the Fulani writer asserted: “No security will dare attempt to arrest any of [the attackers] if they (security) love their lives.”

Together with Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa, Fulani jihadist herdsmen represent a genocidal threat to believers in Nigeria: more than 50,000 Christians have been murdered with near total impunity since these groups began to take hold in the country in 2009. Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
