(Worthy News) – A Christian evangelist says he has no regrets after Muslim extremists attacked him for teaching on Christ’s divinity at an open-air evangelistic event in eastern Uganda earlier this month, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. At least they heard the Gospel, the preacher said.

Evangelist Robert Faisali Miya, a 34-year-old father of four, was attacked on August 11, on day three of the five-day event which took place in Busolwe, northeast of Kampala, MSN reports. During his message, Miya cited passages from the Koran as examples that acknowledge the uniqueness of Christ, and asserted that the Bible affirms Jesus’ uniqueness as the Son of God who grants forgiveness of sins by virtue of His death on the Cross and His subsequent resurrection.

Enraged, Muslims began chanting the jihadist slogan, “Allah Akbar [God is greater],” MSN reports. Then, a Muslim leader known as Sheikh Hiisa Mubaraka dragged Miya down from the podium, an eyewitness told MSN.

“We cannot allow you to preach in this town or come and mislead our people here,” Mubaraka said, according to the eyewitness. “We are going to fight in the cause of Allah to kill all of you.”

“Others were saying that Allah has granted to them authority to kill all infidels,” the eyewitness said. “Another Muslim sprayed what looked like acid, while another hit him with a thorny object and stepped on the evangelist’s back and the stomach.” Christians who tried to help Miya were wounded as Muslims turned on them and beat them and Miya with walking sticks, MSN said. The Christians were eventually to push back the Muslims, and the event organizers rushed Miya to a clinic.

While still in pain and recovering at home, Miya said the beating was worth it.

“Though our meeting with the Muslims failed, the Muslims heard the Good News of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Miya said.
