(Worthy News) – The Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas will pay the families of Hamas terrorists killed by Israel an estimated combined total payment of $2.8 million under a “pay-for-slay” system, the Jerusalem Post reports. The PA governs the West Bank, and is a political rival of Hamas, but it is still expected to reward the families of Hamas terrorists who kill Israelis.

According to the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), a nongovernmental organization and media watchdog group, the PA pays the families from a “Martyrs’ Fund” with the amount determined by the level of death and destruction achieved by the terrorists, JPost reports.

The PMW has reported that a terrorist’s family would be rewarded with an initial payment around $1,500 followed by a monthly allowance of around $353 for life, JPost said.

The Palestinian Authority will also pay $17,590 to approximately 50 new Hamas prisoners this month, the PMW said in its report. The PMW has also emphasized that actual amounts paid out by the Palestinian Authority may ultimately be greater as there are expected to be more “martyrs” and prisoners from the Hamas terrorist organization.

Notably, the PMW has accused the Palestinian Authority of using funding from the European Union for its “pay-for-slay” program instead of for projects to improve the lives of West Bank Palestinians, JPost said.
