(Worthy News) – A new report by the FBI shows that hate crimes against Jews in the US rose 36% from 2021 to 2022, making up over half of all reported religion-based hate crimes during that period, the Washington Times reports.

According to the FBI’s Crime Data Explorer database, the Times reports that 1,124 anti-Jewish crimes were recorded in 2022, and 824 were recorded in 2021. By comparison, there were a total of 158 anti-Islamic crimes recorded in 2002 and 153 such crimes recorded in 2021.

Antisemitic hate crimes have spiked around the world since the Hamas October 7 brutal surprise terror attack on Israeli civilians, and, according to the FBI, there has been an increase in threats against American Jews, the Times reports.

As Israel seeks to destroy the Hamas infrastructure in Gaza through a massive air strike campaign and a possible ground invasion, US officials have stated that the war may result in violence against Jews and Muslims in the US.

“To those Americans worried about violence at home, as a result of the evil acts of terror perpetrated by Hamas in Israel, we see you,” US President Joe Biden said in a recent statement. “My administration will continue to fight antisemitism and Islamophobia.”
