WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson was elected the new U.S. House Speaker and immediately pledged that his first priority will be a pro-Israel bill.

“Our greatest ally in the Middle East is under attack. The first bill that I’m going to bring to this floor will be in support of our dear friend Israel,” he told the House, prompting laud applause reverberating through the Capitol Building.

Later, he said: “I believe that scripture and the Bible is very clear that God is the one that raised up each of you, and God has allowed us to be brought here to this specific moment in time,” as the Jewish nation faces war against Hamas and potentially other terror groups and Arab countries.

The 51-year-old achieved what three previous Republican nominees couldn’t: He officially replaced former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, allowing the U.S. Congress to resume urgent budget negotiations.

“I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this,” he said after being chosen for the job in a 220 to 209 vote on Wednesday.

“I believe that scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the One who raises those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us,” he told fellow legislators.

“And I believe that God has allowed and ordained each one of us to be here at this specific moment in time,” he said. “This is my believe. I believe that each one of us had a huge responsibility today. To use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country, and they deserve it,” Johnson added.

Speaking about his faith and the Bible he urged fellow Republicans to stand with Israel after Jews faced their worst massacres since the Holocaust.

Some 1,400 people, including babies and toddlers, were killed in horrific ways by the “Hamas terrorist organization”, Israel says.
