Last Friday, the aircraft was observed undergoing a test flight in California, a sighting later verified by Air Force officials.
“The B-21 Raider is in flight testing,” Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said.
The Air Force has outlined ambitious plans to manufacture 100 of these warplanes, featuring a flying wing design reminiscent of its predecessor, the B-2 Spirit at a cost of $750 million per plane.
The B-21 Raider will mark improvements from its predecessors as its incorporates cutting-edge materials, propulsion, and stealth technology, enhancing its survivability in potential future conflicts.
The production plan includes variants designed for both piloted and unmanned operations.
