(Worthy News) – China has developed stealth technology for its Yuan-Class Submarine, enhancing its ability to evade detection, according to a report published in Naval News.

China is constructing submarines at a remarkable pace and possesses the capacity to do so at levels unparalleled by any other nation, but even more dangerous is the ability to produce these types of submarines with stealth-like capabilities, according to the report.

The Yuan-class, their latest non-nuclear-powered attack type, is the most numerous class of AIP (air-independent power) submarine globally. Recently, sightings have revealed these submarines with new and distinctly shaped sails specifically designed to diminish the submarine’s signal strength on enemy radars, suggesting the incorporation of Stealth-like advanced technologies.

The ship’s stealth sail, characterized by its angled shape, was initially observed in May 2021. Its capacity to avoid detection provides a strategic advantage in the Indo-Pacific region’s densely populated and contested waters.

Nonetheless, the stealth-like capabilities are not an invisibility cloak. The design is specifically crafted to counteract medium-frequency sonars but diminishes against low-frequency sonars with longer wavelengths. It’s important to note that low-frequency sonars only ascertain the presence of an object, not its identity. The report concludes that the submarine’s shaping will impede the ability to accurately detect its true nature, potentially causing delays or miscalculations that could be exploited to its advantage.
