(Worthy News) – The Syrian defense ministry, in a statement relayed by state media, reported that Israeli air strikes targeting areas near Damascus resulted in injuries to two Syrian soldiers on Sunday.

“At around 22:05 pm (1905 GMT), the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression from the occupied Golan Heights, targeting several areas near the capital Damascus,” the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Syria’s official news agency, relayed, quoting a statement from the Syrian Defense Ministry.

The ministry reported that two soldiers suffered injuries in the attack, and there were also reports of material damages.

Throughout Syria’s 12-year civil conflict, Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes on areas under the control of the Syrian regime, frequently targeting pro-Iran militias like Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, which backs the Syrian army.

Israel did not provide any comment on the airstrike, maintaining its customary stance of not responding to reports of attacks beyond its northern borders. Both military and political leaders in the Jewish state have consistently asserted that Israel will not accept Iran’s presence in Syria.
