(Worthy News) – Radicalized Islamists murdered a Christian preacher in eastern Uganda earlier this month because he had been leading Muslims to faith in Christ, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

A street evangelist and member of the Calvary Temple in Mbale, Kiisa Masolo, was murdered after preaching in the Nakaloke and Busajjabwankuba districts on Mar. 8, MSN reports. He had been threatened with violence in the past if he did not stop preaching the Gospel.

On the day of his death, Masolo had returned home after preaching at around 7 pm when seven masked men in Islamic clothing broke in and abducted him, his mother, Norah Nandege, told MSN. “After whisking him away, three men remained behind and told me that, ‘Allah is very displeased with your son, and we’re out to punish him,’” Nandege said. “Then the three men left,” she said. Nandege reported the matter to the Local Council 3 chairperson, and a search party was organized.

“After four hours of search, the body of my son Masolo was found lying lifeless in the bush with a written Arabic note which we could not read,” Nandege said. “A person fluent in Arabic was called to read the script, which stated, ‘We had warned you not to convert our Muslim brothers and sisters to Christianity, but you failed to heed our warning. This has finally cost your life.’”

“I tried to advise my son to be very cautious with his life, but he used to tell me that his life was in the hands of God and that he was called to carry out the preaching of the gospel of Christ,” Nandege said. “Since then, I knew that the life of my son was in danger, and he might not live for long due to the many threatening messages of Allah, who was out to kill him.”

Christianity is legal in Uganda, and Muslims make up only around 12 percent of the population. Nevertheless, as Islamic Jihadism deepens its grip on the African continent, Ugandan Christians have come under increasingly deadly attack.
